Yesterday I made 46 phone calls. As a producer one of the things you do a lot (I'm only explaining it because no one ever knows what a producer does) is call people. I call people when people don't want to call people. I figure out weird solutions to strange problems that probably shouldn't exist anyway. I will cite a specific example.
We were running late yesterday because of the need to build Burger Chef upon arrival (see previous posts) so I was needed to call the 2 actors we had scheduled for later in the afternoon. I had to tell them that call time would be pushed back by 2 hours.
After calling the first actor, it turned out that I didn't have the second actor's phone number (for some reason we don't have a contact sheet listing all the actors...) Anywho I texted Tom who I figured would have the actors phone number (since he had essentially been the liaison to the actors before I arrived) and he said "I don't have a number for him on hand what's the problem ? Did he not show ? I have a confirmation email so he should be there" This of course was not helpful. I texted back "We need to change his calltime." Within two hours the actor would be at Casa de Dastoli and no one would even be there to tell him. Robert then had the idea to use my iPhone to check nowcasting.com and look up the actor's phone number. This worked. It took a couple minutes (thanks EDGE network) but we got the number and contacted him in time.
